Dress Code for Dancers

In order to help the students concentrate on their technique and performance in class, we are requiring that the proceeding dress code be followed:

DRESSING FOR CLASS: In keeping with the traditions of Classical Ballet, girls must wear their hair fastened securely away from their face for ALL classes. (There are practical reasons for this as well as aesthetic ones. Body alignment is critical in dance, and the instructor must be able to see the line of a student's body from the head down.)

Laces and/or ribbons must be tucked into all Ballet shoes. No ribbons or laces in Tap shoes. Please use buckles or elastic in all Tap shoes, available at any dance shop. Do not wear jewelry in class (earrings, watches, rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.). Leg warmers and other extraneous pieces of attire are not allowed without the express permission of the instructor.

LOCKER AREA: The locker area is located in the back of the studio. Please use this area for all coats, clothes and belongings. Please no street shoes in the wooden lockers. No belongings should be left to clutter the space in the waiting area. Students should not enter or leave the premises dressed in leotard, tights or dance shoes.

Wearing a "cover-up" over dancewear is a necessity! This rule applies to ALL age students.
